Summer and winter holidays in the Dolomites

A summer like in childhood, a winter magically rife with wonder.

Summer in Anterselva? That means walking barefoot. Cool streams. Meadows that smell wonderful. The Rieserferner Group’s mountains rise into the sky — and with them, wonder grows. Do nothing at all — or experience plenty. Madame Rabbit lounges on the grass. Mr. Fox counts butterflies. And the winter? When snowflakes dance outside, the indoors, it feels even cozier. Or you’re like Mr. Fox and let the forest guide you through the season. In the end, there’s always the same thing: a cup of warmth, a pinch of stillness, a small big happiness.

Madame Rabbit

“Do as the curious fox does and explore new paths. Or do as I do – don’t choose the fastest route, but the most beautiful one: with a view, a quiet tree and sweet blackberries.”

… spoken by the Rabbit

The active fox recommends…

When Mr. Fox isn’t ducking into Hoferbach or sniffing through the undergrowth, he seeks adventure — and finds it right at your doorstep:

And when Signore Fox isn’t quite sure what his next adventure will be, he takes a peek at Guestnet — the guest portal from A to Z. Everything you need when you’re eager to discover more.

Sledding at Passo Stalle

…park your car at the Biathlon Center in Anterselva (about 15 minutes away). From there, set off with a rented sledge from the Platzl am See restaurant and hike up to Passo Stalle. Alternatively, a sledge awaits at the Oberseehütte up top. And then? 4.5 kilometers of zigzagging downhill, cold noses, rosy cheeks, and huge joy. Just the kind of thing Mr. Fox loves.

Snowshoeing & touring skis

Mr. Fox straps on his touring skis or slips into snowshoes to climb Hinterbergkofel. Reaching 2,595 meters, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the Valle di Anterselva and the Dolomites — the perfect winter excursion for nature lovers and adventurers!

Cross country skiing in the Talloipe

Only two minutes by car from our Hideaway begins the Sonnenloipe, taking you 5.5 km through the Valle di Anterselva. Quiet, sunny, and perfect for connoisseurs. The entry is just around the corner, two minutes away. Or would you rather do the big loop at the Biathlon Center? Over 60 kilometers of trails and Olympic-grade scenery included. Mr. Fox would already be on the move.

Skiing at the Riepen chairlift & Kronplatz

Mr. Fox says: small, but with a twist! Just five minutes from Pfaffinger Hof lies the Riepenlift — ideal for those who want a relaxed day. Families, beginners, and returners will find the perfect terrain here. The ski school is right on site — fun on the slopes is guaranteed. If Mr.  Fox wants to go higher, he straps on his boards and glides down Kronplatz’s slopes. South Tyrol’s number one ski mountain lures with 120 kilometers of pistes, state-of-the-art lifts, and a superb panorama. By the way: only 15 minutes away by car.

Cycling in the Valle di Anterselva

Mr. Fox knows it’s often the small things that make the day special.
A cozy bike ride starts right at your door and winds through the idyllic biotope. Ride on to Rasun and back for a relaxing excursion that clears the mind. For a quick break, the local bar is on the way back. For the more sporty cyclists, there’s a ride to Lake Anterselva, then on to Passo Stalle. The 10-kilometer climb is challenging, but the views and the fresh mountain air reward every effort. Mr. Fox’s tip: take time to savor the moment! And for those who crave speed, the nearby Bike Park offers three varied downhill trails — adrenaline guaranteed.

Grente Alm- Mr. Fox’s favorite destination

At 2,002 meters above sea level, in the heart of Antholz Valley, lies our Grente Alm — the perfect vantage point for a picnic with views of the Rieserferner Group and the Dolomites. Mr. Fox recommends: from Pfaffinger Hof along the Franzosensteig trail north to the clearing “Erstbam,” then up the Grenter Steig — 900 meters of elevation and about 2.5 hours of hiking fun. P.S.: Our hut is currently under renovation and not accessible inside, but the three wooden benches in front offer the perfect spot for a break.

Alpine lake Lake Antholz

Hiking over hill and dale

Mr. Fox loves the hike to Rammelstein (2,483 m) or Amperspitz (2,687 m) — both peaks offer spectacular views of the Rieserferner group. Otherwise, there’s the Franzosensteig trail, winding through spruce forests, past rustic farmsteads, up to Lake Anterselva. For the return trip, Mr. Fox prefers the bus, which runs every 30 minutes. Sometimes it’s nice to let someone else do the driving.

The Cozy Rabbit recommends…

Madame Rabbit knows how to enjoy the gentle side of life. She takes her time, savoring quiet moments and the beauty of nature. Whether it’s a slow wander through blooming meadows, a peaceful rest under ancient trees, or simply watching the world go by — for Madame Rabbit, it’s not about how far you go, but how deeply you feel each step.

P.S. And maybe later a little snack — because, as Madame Rabbit says, “A full tummy makes the heart even happier.”

Romantic Alpine Walks

The Hofstattalm in the quiet Niedertal is perfect for a relaxed stroll hand in hand. Or let yourself be drawn to the hidden charm of the Kumpflalm, Bergeralm, or Schwörzalm in the nearby Mittertal. These alpine huts offer breathtaking views, warm hospitality, and places to pause and simply be. The circular trail around Lake Anterselva invites you to slow down and enjoy each other’s company by the water’s edge. A secret tip for lovers of nature and stillness: hike up to the Neuhütte in Niedertal. Bring a picnic, find a quiet spot — and as the sun sets behind the peaks, let the world stand still for a while. Just you, the mountains, and that golden, glowing silence Madame Rabbit holds so dear.

A Private Cinema in the Clouds

Just 10–15 minutes north — even via the scenic Franzosensteig trail — lies a hidden clearing, affectionately called “Erstbam” by Christoph. It’s a magical place where time seems to pause. Madame Rabbit loves to come here with a blanket, breathe in the crisp mountain air, and listen to the soft gurgle of the stream nearby. It’s the perfect spot to dream together, to watch the clouds drift by, and to share those quiet, unforgettable moments — wrapped in nature and in each other.

Castle in Brunico Walk through Brunico

Culture & Little Adventures

Between castle walls and Christmas lights, between mountain views and quiet town strolls — Madame Rabbit knows that it’s the gentle discoveries that make the heart skip a beat. A visit to Brunico Castle? Absolutely! Especially because the Messner Mountain Museum Ripa brings to life fascinating tales of mountain people and their world above the clouds. And afterwards? A leisurely walk through the charming streets of Bruneck — past little shops, cozy cafés, and maybe a beautifully decorated window or two. And when Madame Rabbit feels like a touch of wonder, she follows the sound of water to the Reinbach Waterfalls near Sand in Taufers — where nature puts on a breathtaking show.

Christmas market in Brunico Christmas market in Bressanone

Christmas in the Antholz Valley & Beyond

When the first snowflakes fall, the air begins to smell of cinnamon and cookies, and the mountains shimmer with a quiet sparkle — that’s when Madame Rabbit’s favorite season begins. During Advent, she hops from market to market — not in a rush, but with wide eyes and an open heart, discovering the little wonders of the season. The Christmas markets in Bruneck and Brixen shine with festive lights, music, and a touch of magic in the air. But what Madame Rabbit loves most are the quieter corners — the small, rustic markets in Rasen, or the enchanting Tearna Waldadvent in Terenten. Here, between pine branches, flickering fire pits, and handmade treasures, stories come to life. She strolls slowly, stops wherever it smells delicious, and listens to the hush of winter all around.
